Course overview

We invite you to come and join our Wing Chun family and offer this course to help you on your path to effective self defence and wellbeing.

The aim of the Natural Wing Chun Foundation Course is to equip you with the skills, knowledge and understanding to develop efficiently in your future training.

We bring development to life through practical exercises underpinned by ancient knowledge and centuries of refinement. As a result, you will develop a good understanding of the practices and principles of Wing Chun and see how your practical skills can be applied to your future development.

Successful completion of the Natural Wing Chun Foundation Course will equip you with the knowledge, skills and understanding to be able to participate effectively in regular training activities including group classes, private instruction and seminars.

Those who successfully complete the course will be able to understand the principles and exercises of Wing Chun and how their practical skills can be applied to their progression in the art.

Who is it for?

The Natural Wing Chun Foundation Course is aimed at those either already training in Wing Chun or those who wish to find out about Wing Chun with the intention of starting out on a regular training path.

Entry requirements

It is not necessary to have any previous martial arts experience, knowledge of martial arts or a specific level of fitness. All of this shall come as you progress at your own pace under individual guidance by SiFu Bennett.

Ways to train

Outside of the course sessions you will be expected to practice in your own time and detailed notes will be provided to enable this. There is also the option to undertake one to one instruction to reinforce the knowledge gained during the course and to help refine your practice.

Tailored instruction

While this is a group session, the attendees are kept very low in numbers to allow for instruction to be provided that takes into account your own needs. Naturally, there is guidance that relates to everyone, but often what one person needs to focus on is not the same as their fellow students.

What will I cover?

By the end of the course you should be able to:

  • Understand the 5 physical principles of Wing Chun
  • Be able to perform the first section of the first form of Wing Chun (Siu Lim Tau)
  • Have a sound working knowledge of the mother punch (Chier Kuen)
  • Be familiar with the ways of blocking including the first seven blocking motions
  • Develop the correct timing of simultaneous blocking and attacking
  • Have a basic grasp of the main Wing Chun development exercise (Chi Sau)

What are the costs?

The six week course is only £75 and includes the training material to enable you to practice between sessions.
